App Privacy Policy
This policy describes the Searchibald desktop application. It is reproduced from the original product website; it does not describe the hosting platform used to serve this website.
Offline by Design
Searchibald is a desktop application that operates completely offline. It does not require or use an internet connection at any point, and it never sends or receives data over the network. There are no cloud services, no background syncing, and no external communication.
Your Data Stays on Your Device
The app never looks at any files or folders unless you explicitly add them to your searchable library. It does not scan system folders, user folders, or any location that you haven’t selected yourself.
Search Powered by Windows Search
Searchibald uses the built-in Windows Search engine to assist in indexing files, but only within the folders you choose. When you add a folder, the app may ask for your permission to allow Windows Search to include it in its index — this ensures efficient scanning and searching. No changes are made to your system without your consent.
Privacy Comes First
Privacy is at the heart of Searchibald. The app was built around the principle that your data should remain yours. There are:
- No tracking
- No telemetry
- No third-party analytics
- No background data collection
Everything you do in the app stays on your device — permanently.
